Our new Virgil amp featured in NY Amp Show wrap-up

After hearing the new Grease Monkey II at the NY Amp Show, Jimi knew he had to have one.
True to form, we had to make up a couture version of the GMII for Mr. Hazel. He wanted to name it Gris-Gris, so we did a custom logo for it, and added white knobs and a Sonic Blue headshell.
We recently had the pleasure of designing this box for Jonny’s live rig.
While on the Experience Hendrix tour I noticed Jonny could use a new A/B box. Because of the way he runs his two amps, he really needed something custom, so we whipped one up here at 3 Monkeys and sent it out to him on tour.
Lasering the panels for the Limited Edition run of Virgils. These amps will be going out to dealers soon.

Jim James of My Morning Jacket talks about his love for the 3 Monkeys Orangutan in the July 2011 issue of Premier Guitar. Read it here.
Jim had this to say about his main amp, “I have finally found an amp I love both on the road and in the studio – the 3 Monkeys Orangutan. It is unreal how versatile this amp sounds. It can truly do everything. I feel like I’m doing a product endorsement now, but I’m really being serious. The amp sounds amazing and it looks beautiful too, – like the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey or something. God bless this amp.”
Thanks Jim, we think so too.
3 Monkeys was proud to introduce the Virgil and Grease Monkey II amps at the NY Amp Show. Harrison Whitford (Brad’s 16 yr old son) and Jimi Hazel were on-hand to demo the amps.
Many pro players visited the room as well. Great jam by Nicky Muroch and Mark Bowers on Sunday at the close of the show.
